BANGALORE, INDIA: Networking company Brocade announced three new networking solutions for enterprise campus, to help organizations scale networks to sustain new applications and data growth.
K P Unnikrishnan, director, marketing, APAC, Brocade, said: "As the demands in enterprise IT have exploded in recent years, organizations are relying on applications such as video conferencing and unified communications. Other key challenges for IT organizations include overpriced networking solutions that introduce unnecessary complexity and further stress already-tight budgets, ageing hardware that can’t support new business and application requirements and the proliferation of a wide variety of mobile devices that require always-on network access." The first of these new products is Brocade ICX 6610 Switch, which provides 8×10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) uplink ports.
Brocade claims that the new ICX 6610 delivers five times the stacking bandwidth than its competitor products.
It is available in 24 or 48 RJ-45 10/100/1000 Mbps port models, 24 or 48 RJ-45 10/100/1000 Mbps PoE+ port models, 24 100/1000 Mbps SFP port models, eight dual-mode 1 GbE/10 GbE software upgradable ports and four 40 Gbps standards-based QSFP stacking ports.
Brocade also announced new blades and performance and scalability enhancements for its FastIron SX series of chassis-based aggregation and core switches.
The new 8×10 GbE blades can scale up to 128 ports of 10 GbE. The FastIron SX, which features hitless failover, is ideal for campus LAN environments, added Unnikrishnan.
It also features Multi-Chassis Trunking (MCT) for active resiliency, plus MACsec and Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE)-ready hardware.
MCT lets two FSX chassis to operate as a single fully redundant active/active logical switch with no STP overhead. The company also guarantees no service interruption with Hitless failover across chassis management modules, hitless in-service software upgrades, and hot module and line card replacement.
Brocade also updated its FCX series of campus LAN products.
The Brocade ICX 6610 will be available this month for a starting price of $5,595 and the new Brocade FastIron SX Series module for $4,495.
MCT will be available in early 2012 for the Brocade FastIron SX Series. Brocade also reduced the price of its FCX Series stackable switches.
