GURGAON, INDIA: UTStarcom Inc. announced the launch of Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) Technology Center and Center of Excellence in India.
The technology centre will be a part in the formation of India’s IPTV regulation, and the CoE will provide post-sales support for the company. Vijay Yadav, VP & MD, UTStarcom’s South Asia operations, said: “UTStarcom is committed to IPTV's growth in the country and we’re applying best practices from our experience in India to similar scenarios in other regions. UTStarcom hopes that the centers will make substantial contributions to India’s IPTV portfolio in the years to come.” The technology centre will also focus on localisation and customisation of UTStarcom’s IPTV products in India. UTStarcom’s primary goal is to share global perspectives on IPTV implementation standards and identify synergies with potential IPTV partners for future deployment collaborations. The centre will also enable UTStarcom to analyse and conduct extensive background research on current market trends, opportunities and individual operator needs before the company enters into new customer agreements. The CoE is an IPTV lab that will emulate the customer network and simulate customer-reported problems in various conditions. This will allow the company to modify its technology before it is deployed to create an optimal end-user experience.
