Airtel is always finding new ways to cheat there broadband subscribers. The same is the case in Pakistan, both of our countries have these corrupt Customer Services, making use of any opportunity to take out money from customers.

The cables were broken due to natural causes which Airtel has no control over, and nor do you or any of us. Sure its an inconvenience, but stop whining! Do you ask for a lesser TV Cable bill because you couldnt watch it coz of all the power cuts? They're already rerouting traffic through other means more efficiently than you can imagine.
