BANGALORE, INDIA: Finally something is coming out from Google- Gizmo5's stable. (Gizmo5 is a VoIP service acquired by Google last year.)
The Unofficial Google Operating System blog said that Google has started using a new feature that makes Gmail chat more useful: Users can make and receive Google Voice calls from Gmail. Also Read: Mobile VoIP vs mobile voice
By now, many must have come across a new phone icon opens a Gmail chat window with a dialpad, an option to find contacts, a credit balance and a call button.
Today, if at all one wants to make a call, you need a phone. However, this new feature will allow users to make voice calls over the Internet and it's likely that it won't be limited to Gmail.
For now, Google Voice's integration with Gmail is not publicly available, the blog adds.
