SHANGHAI, CHINA: Networking company Ericsson together with ST-Ericsson demonstrated a TD-LTE system for China Mobile today.
LTE, the next generation technology for mobile broadband, includes two versions: One for paired spectrum, frequency division duplex (FDD); and one for unpaired spectrum, time division duplex (TDD).Also Read: Ericsson dials first trial call over LTE Ericsson executed TD-LTE interoperability testing (IOT) with ST-Ericsson, and will also test two other chipset/terminal vendors, who are expected to be finalized soon.
The demonstration was performed with a USB dongle with a TD-LTE chipset from ST-Ericsson. The system showcased mobile broadband applications such as video-on-demand (VOD) and video streaming using a live camera.
Last month Ericsson's TD-LTE solution has achieved a single user peak rate of 110Mbps for downlink.
Ericsson has also introduced a new base station, based on multi-standard base station, RBS 6000, as part of its TD-LTE offering.
In addition, the solution is capable of supporting LTE Advanced technology.
