Ruckus Wireless opens offices in India, aligns with Dell

SUNNYVALE, USA & BANGALORE, INDIA: Ruckus Wireless, a next-generation Wi-Fi company credited with pioneering "Smart Wi-Fi" technology has launched its India operations, headquartered in Bangalore, to deliver its award-winning Smart Wi-Fi solutions to businesses and service providers throughout the country.

Ruckus has also formed a partnership with Dell in India, which is providing Ruckus ZoneFlex Smart wireless LANs to its corporate customers throughout India.

The two companies will jointly market Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi technology and products to the software and peripherals, enterprise, healthcare, retail, education and hospitality industries, as well as to broadband operators delivering triple-play (voice, video and data) services to consumers and businesses.

"India is a hyper-growth market for technology and represents a significant market opportunity for us," said Selina Lo, president and CEO of Ruckus Wireless. "Our relationship with Dell in the region enables us to hit the ground running with a unique solution that fulfills a pressing need – reliable, easy-to-deploy Wi-Fi networks."

India's Wi-Fi market is likely to grow from approximately $260 million in 2008 to nearly $900 million by 2011 (Source: Tonse Telecom, 2008) with rapid adoption of the technology in schools, hospitals and medical facilities, hotels and other public venues, as well as within small and mid-sized businesses, large corporate environments and in homes in both rural and urban areas.

"Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi is already proven around the globe as a powerful, dependable technology for mobilizing businesses and giving consumers access to content and services no matter where they are," said Nitin Bawankule, Director of Software and Peripherals for Dell's Business Solutions Division. "Cost effective and convenient to deploy, our corporate customers in India will benefit greatly from the wire-like reliability and superior performance that Smart Wi-Fi enables."
