Some of the likely winners in India during 2009 seem to be mobile commerce, widespread use of GPRS, presence of MVNOs (mobile virtual network operators, 3G services, WiMAX, etc.

* Mobile commerce would be India’s answer to the e-commerce revolution in the west.

* Low cost, high performance data services (GPRS) becoming widespread and used by consumers anywhere in India

* Mobile would be the common man’s PC.

* Services beyond voice and SMS would become more prevalent.

* More international players including MVNOs would make its presence felt in India.

* 3G services would be launched in India.

* Voice ARPUs would continue to go south.

* Regulators to play more active role to ensure competitiveness and fairness in the market.

* Wireless broadband technologies like WiMAX would be piloted.

* Video and TV over mobile would become reality.
