SAN JOSE, USA: Netgear, a manufacturer of computer networking equipment, upgraded its ReadyNAS network storage system.
The company claims that the new 'ultra family' home digital storage system, which comes in 2-Bay, 4-Bay and 6-Bay forms, is more than twice as fast as legacy ReadyNAS systems.Also Read: Petabytes comes of age enters zettabytes
The system, which comes with Skifta media-shifting capabilities, enables users to centralize media on a ReadyNAS and access private media libraries remotely from any Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified device.
Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra products are TiVo, a digital video recorder, compatible DVR network storage systems, which alleviates storage capacity concerns by streaming HD programming content to any TiVo box in the house at a later date without additional software or computers.
The Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 4 ($599.99 MSRP disc less and $899.99 MSRP 2 x 2 TB) and Ultra 6 ($899.99 MSRP disc less and $1349.99 MSRP 3 x 2 TB) are availablenow, with shipping starting in mid-July.
The Netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 2 will be shipping in October.
