UK: According to published reports on VNUNet, Intel has made its top 10 predictions for the next decade.

These were said to be made by Intel's technical marketing manager, Steve Cutler, at a briefing for press and analysts this week.

The predictions are:

1. New classes of portable device with 10 times the battery life
2. Interconnects based on low-cost silicon photonics.
3. Software-based rendering will replace today's dedicated graphics processing units (GPUs).
4. Virtual memory technology will drive greater realism in graphics.
5. Malware will no longer be a threat thanks to hardware fixes.
6. Personal internet devices will anticipate your needs.
7. Internet devices will automatically share resources.
8. Next generation TV.
9. 3D worlds will become seamlessly connected.
10. A revolution in the way wireless spectrum is managed.
