According to Solar Systems Group, which claims to be a pioneer in large-sized “perfect wafers,” the traditional 156mm mono-crystalline solar wafers are “pseudo-square” with the corners being cut off. The cut-off corners, Solar Systems says, result in a smaller area from which solar cells and panels can capture sunlight.
The “perfect wafer” of Comtec Solar Systems, in contrast, enables makers of solar cells and solar panels to increase the active area and thereby enhance the quantity of electricity generated, John Zhang, chairman and chief executive officer of Comtec Solar Systems, said in a statement.
Neo Solar Power Corporation says that its new “perfect cell’ that uses “perfect wafer” demonstrates the possibility of enhancing power density by over 3 per cent. The new cells have an average conversion efficiency of 17.8 per cent.
According to Quincy Lin, chairman of Neo Solar Power Corporation, thanks to the company’s technological advance, the “perfect cell’ offers extremely low light-induced degradation with superior output that exceeds 250W.
Quincy Lin said that, including the “creative wafer-maker” Comtec Solar Systems into Neo Solar Power’s diversified wafer base will increase further the capacity of Neo Solar Power on volume delivery of the new “perfect cell.”
