Reports that came out earlier in the year said that Walton was looking to increase the number of its high-speed testers for DDR3 chips, and also expand capacity through the acquisition of an LCD module (LCM) plant from HannStar Display. Sources also say that the DRAM backend firm, whose major clients reportedly include Elpida Memory and Winbond Electronics, has plans to budget NT$5 billion in capex for 2010, compared to NT$2 billion allocated last year.
