TAIPEI, TAIWAN: Most manufacturers of passive components, based in Taiwan, including Polytronics Technology, Cyntec, and Chilisin Electronics, registered sequential growth in revenue in January 2010, thanks to increased demand from the notebook and LCD TV sectors.
In a statement, Cyntec, maker of power chokes, said that its consolidated revenues went up by 23 per cent sequentially to NT$515 million (US $16.06 million) in January 2010, notwithstanding the seasonal factor.
Cyntec added that it expects its revenues for the first quarter of 2010 to be on par with those of the previous quarter, with its order visibility having been extended to the early second quarter of 2010. Chilisin Electronics, also a vendor of power chokes, said it earned revenues amounting to NT$200 million in January 2010 – up by 10.1 per cent from a year earlier. The company plans to start expanding capacity soon with a view to meeting the rising market demand.
Polytronics Technology, the manufacturer of polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) resistors, says its revenues rose by 16.6 per cent sequentially to NT$84.42 million in January 2010 as a result of strong demand from the notebook and motherboard segments.
Polytronics Technology also said that it is jacking up the capacity for thermal conductive boards and that the expansion project is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2010.
