Orders for LCD driver ICs from first-tier handset vendors have dropped considerably, according to market sources.
The first-quarter revenues for IC design companies such as Sitronix Technology, ILI Technology, and Orise Technology are expected to see a 0 per cent -5 per cent sequential rise, the market sources added.
Apart from China, Sitronix Technology has entered the supply chain of a handset vendor based in South Korea. The revenues of Sitronix Technology are projected to reach NT$390-400 million (US $12.19-12.51 million) for February 2010, and its sales in March 2010 are expected to return to the level in January 2010.
Order visibility of most driver IC manufacturers based in Taiwan has been extended to the second quarter, the market sources said.
