TAIPEI, TAIWAN: In an effort that would most likely contribute close to NT$10 million (US$303,900) to its total sales during the current year 2009, Himax Analogic, the subsidiary company of Himax Technologies will kick off mass production of white light LED driver ICs in a month’s time.

It is being rumoured that the mass production of the devices might get started by September itself. Elaborating in the new devices its subsidiary company proposes to make, Himax Technologies has said that the white light LED driver will come with a 4.5V to 24V input voltage range and up to 44V output voltage that would drive up to 80 LEDs at 90 per cent efficiency for small-size panel products such as notebooks and net books.

According to WM Su, the Vice President of Himax Analogic, the company has also introduced power management (PWM) ICs which are in the process of validation by customers.

Himax Analogic also is lining up the launch of an integrated solution combining LED driver IC and PWM IC at the end of 2009, said an industry report. Himax Analogic might also make its foray into the micro projector and lighting markets in the future.

Besides, mulling over a shift from non-driver IC product lines, the company has also been planning to take its share of the segment on an upward graph during 2009. The company has also been actively expanding its non-driver IC business. Non-driver IC products accounted for around 6 per cent of Himax' total revenues in the previous year, said a market report.
