Indian design engineers are at the centre of the opportunity for global companies with the electronics industry in the country growing at five times the rate for the global electronics-communication market. Intel Corp., which has a sizeable presence in the country was principal sponsor of ESC India. "We were excited to be a part of the Embedded Systems Conference in Bangalore.
ESC India proved to be an effective forum for us to increase awareness among the engineering and development community in India about Intel's embedded and communications products", said Sanat Rao, Marketing director (Emerging Markets), Embedded Markets Division, Intel.
Other exhibitors too express happiness at the exposure they received at the event. Eric Schacherer, Managing Director Green Hills Software, said "It was the first time that India hosted a show dedicated to Embedded Systems, and considering the opportunity both in terms of market and in potential of technology emerging from the country, it was long overdue.
The technical sessions were of high quality as was the audience. We look forward to coming back for the Conference next year." Green Hills is a leader in Device Software Optimisation and showcased their recently introduced static analysis tool at the expo.
The thought was echoed by G.V. Gurunathan, President and MD of Embedded Systems Solutions ESS), a leading distributor of hardware and software for the embedded market in India. "We have had a very satisfied with the leads generated at the Conference and look forward to the event next year," said Gurunathan. ESS and their partner Wiznet also used the ESC event to introduce their "Wiznet iEthernet 2007 Design Contest", the first world-wide design contest for the Ethernet area.
Most participant agreed that India is rapidly emerging in the world of embedded systems as consumers, suppliers and designers, and it is the right time for ESC to be held here. Such a convention brings together the design engineers and system architects in India with the domains that they are working on – such as medical services, entertainment, industrial automation, communications – and gives them the opportunity to get exposed to the technology and learning from others of their community.
