BANGALORE, INDIA: In a significant landmark, Everywire Homenetworking firm CopperGate Communications has exported over 10 million HomePNA chipsets that are used in digital devices deployed worldwide in home entertainment networks and IPTV solutions.
The shipment of such a high number of chipsets is being seen by the industry as cementing the fact that there is growing demand for CopperGate technology.
The company said that the new chipsets helps in lowering capital and operating expenses substantially when deploying IPTV, broadband access for MDU, and triple play services.
The CopperGate HomePNA chips help in converting existing home wiring into usable Ethernet over coax and phone networks, it has been pointed out.
Currently being deployed by more than 40 telecommunications, cable, and satellite companies as key components of their home entertainment offerings to consumers, the chips are known for their high-speed, low-cost, triple, voice- data-video options for use with existing coax and phone wiring inside homes.
Made on the HomePNA technology platform, CopperGate HomePNA technology has helped companies cut install times by more than 30 per cent, said the company. CopperGate had said its future semiconductors will be based on G.hn, the next generation home entertainment networking standard consented by the ITU in 2008.
This interestingly is the first global standard to support all three wire types already in consumer homes. The company had recently rolled out its latest chipset, the CG3210M for multi-dwelling units (MDU) and hospitality applications.
