Acoris is a subsidary of Hikal, which delivers contract research and manufacturing services in pharmaceutical and specialty chemical. With a new facility at pune, they wanted to have latest technologies to be implemented at their facility. They wanted this to increase the productivity, secure information, provide better customer service, and to implement and benefit out of Green IT.

Also, they wanted to automate process manufacturing with instrumentation and have sturdy setup that gives highest possible up time.
During the process of implementation, the major challenges they faced were; first, to build up the IT infrastructure such that it meets all of their buisness requirements, second to build up a secure setup as they often communicate over fax, mail or voice. And third is to build up the IT infrastructure such that it shows true implementation of Green IT. Apart from these, there were some key technical challenges also. Such as both the voice and data network are on same fiber backbone and it was separated at the end level.
So it was bit difficult to separate fiber cores and connect to data and voice switches separately. Next was that the instrumentations was on IP base network and Hubert system was on serial communication, hence it was difficult to integrate both communication into system.Post-implementation, the key benefit they got was customers’ confidence and cost effectiveness. There are number other of features which set apart this project. One major feature is that entire IT technology implemented is synchronized with each other. So the setup has offered an integration of security, robustness, easy of usage, management and Green IT.
Finally, they have implemented a huge infrastructure, such as, blade server chassis populated with 7 blade servers has been installed. This helps in management, avoiding redundancy, energy saving, physical space saving and future cost savings in case they need more servers to be installed. A fiber structured network has been implemented with 15 years of certification. Voice and data network has been separated for QOS. The network has been divided into blocks so it is easy to maintain, provide better speed and provide better security. Fibre base network switches have been installed at all block junctions. This eliminated possibility of virus infection and data loss.
