What are the current trends in printing for SMEs?

The market is offering a lot of products like MFDs, Single function printers, scanners, etc. While these would help SMEs there are no customised products directly targeted at them. The deciding factor in buying the right product amongst SMEs is price. Hence if there is a budget constraint an SME might buy a general consumer printer and in return compromise on quality or feature requirements. The trend that I see is a lot of customised products being launched specifically for SMEs today.

What are the methods or products or measures you suggest to any SME enterprise to be cost effective?

To maximize productivity SMEs need to know hat their requirements are or what features they are looking for in a printer. SMEs should buy customized products to meet their exact requirements. Customised solution is the need of the hour for the SMEs.

How can your products be helpful for SMEs?

SMEs form a potentially significant market. According o the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Government of India there are approximately 13.2 million SMEs in India. And Gartner has reported that, companies spend up to 3% of business revenue on document printing Epson recognizes that this forms a significant chunk of the operating costs of any business. We have provided the key features that most SMEs look for in a printer at a favourable/reasonable price and running cost. Some features of this series are Re-engineered like Epson Micro Piezo print head technology for Laserlike quality and Speed, enhanced functionality with wireless connectivity, low cost of ownership, low power consumption etc. which would meet the requirements of the SME segment.

 How is your strategy different from other vendors in the same segment?

Most companies today try to resell or reposition their consumer printers as the right product for the SME segment. The products that are available in the market today for SMEs either have features that would not benefit them or the cost of the product is too high. We at Epson have done our research on the need and requirements in this segment and have launched a complete product series – Epson Stylus office, exclusively for the SME segment. Epson believes that the launch of the Epson Stylus Office will be able to help SMEs maximize value from every print through its laser-like speed, laser-like print uality and innovative multi-function features at a reduced cost.
