While speaking to CyberMedia News, Websense's channel manager for South East Asia and India, Jyoti Prakash said, "It's a complete security solution that includes feature of anti-virus, content filter for email and attachments and data loss prevention (DLP).
It helps organizations and businesses that have specific security needs and requirements.
According to Prakash, this hosted security solution will be highly beneficial to SMBs.
"Today for SMBs as well as for any businesses, emails remains the integral part of business. However, the spams, viruses and other malicious contents over the Internet remain their major concerns as they reduce the network bandwidth, consume storage space and also there is the possibility of critical data loss," he explained.
Further he added that most SMBs either have small IT infrastructure or outsource the IT requirements and in today's time no company likes to invest in IT infrastructure as it requires upgrades and scalability at later stages.
"However, setting up IT infrastructure and dedicated IT team for these businesses is unfeasible due to resource and management constrains. Hence, Websense's hosted security solution helps SMBs to save the cost of setting IT infrastructure, adds efficiency and allows them to concentrate on core business," claimed Prakash.
The hosted email security solution comes with pre-defined policies and standard templates as per data security norms that ensures data encryption when required. It works at the gateway to control the flow of malicious contents and emails and hence it lowers the bandwidth usage of emails.
Websense has 11 data centers across the globe that constantly monitors emails traffic and analyses them before sending them to their respective mail exchanges of organizations and businesses.
Some technical features include ability to extract content for analysis from inside attachments, 20 pre-defined content dictionaries in 12 Asian languages for acceptable usage and outbound content inspection, PCI -DSS (payment card industry data security standard) compliance templates, advanced regular expression engine for unique data analysis and content engine to drive policy based encryption.
In recent years, Websense has enhanced its security features and expanded security portfolio after it acquired PortAuthority and SurfControl.
