BANGALORE, INDIA: HP and VMware today announced integrated storage, desktop and connectivity solutions, to help customers deploy virtualization solutions in a Converged Infrastructure framework and transform their data centers to enable cloud computing.

To give organizations affordable, easy-to-deploy infrastructure virtualization, HP and VMware have combined VMware vSphere Essentials Plus with the HP P4000 Virtual SAN Appliance (VSA). The HP P4000 is the only software SAN certified as VMware Ready.

The new integrated product complements “always-on” IT from VMware for small and medium businesses (SMBs) with highly available storage from HP. It provides backup and recovery with shared storage capabilities to help SMBs start on the path to cloud-based IT services, said a press release.

The converged infrastructure reference architecture for VMware View features the new HP P4800 BladeSystem SAN and HP Vitual Connect FlexFabric.

The new HP Virtual Connect FlexFabric module is optimized for virtualization networking. It provides scalability for up to four times more virtual machines per blade eliminates 95 per cent of network access equipment and reduces power and cooling costs by 40 percent with the new HP ProLiant G7 servers.

HP also would provide cloud consulting solutions on HP and VMware technologies to help customers build their own private cloud solutions and deploy management, disaster recovery and business continuity, as well as desktop virtualization across their infrastructures.
