BANGALORE: Netgear Technologies designs technologically advanced, branded networking solutions that address the specific needs of small and medium business and home users. The company's product offerings enable users to share Internet access, peripherals, files, digital multimedia content and applications among multiple personal computers and other Internet-enabled devices.

Atul Jain, Country Manager (India & SAARC), Netgear Technologies India Pvt Limited discusses the companies focus and product line by for SMBs in an interview with Sharath Kumar of CIOL. Here are excerpts from the interview:

CIOL: The SMB segment is emerging as a fast growing segment. How do you plan to tap the market?

Atul Jain: Netgear has been a 100 per cent Home, SOHO and SMB focused company. Therefore, all our products are built from the grounds up for the SMB customers.

We are basically a networking vendor for SMBs. Today, there is a close integration between the storage and networking and Netgear has brought  ReadyNAS series of products for the storage requirements of the SMBs. Our storage products to tackle the storage issues emanating from the unbridled flow of information and ERP and CRM are two applications, which generate a lot of information and data, which needs a structured storage and retrieval process. And, Netgear solution is ideal for these purposes.

CIOL: Most SMBs find hurdles in IT adaptation due to cost and technology issues. Does Netgear offer customized products for SMBs?

AJ: We design products keeping following in mind that the product should be easy to install. Netgear products protect investment, are scalable and allow easy migration in future to add up users in future. The products can also be maintained at low costs and come with lifetime warranty for all our Prosafe products.

CIOL: How robust is your channel partner network?

AJ: At Netgear we believe in continuous learning. We are regularly training our channel partners with new products and technology. All this ultimately helps them to provide right in time solution to our customers.

CIOL: Are there any new release in the offering?

AJ: We have recently enhanced our Smart switches offerings by introducing few more products that offers technical feature required by enterprise customers but packaged to the need for SMB users also. These includes the products like GS724TR / GS748TR.
It offers users to migration to more robust network and low maintenance cost, while more feature reached, almost equivalent to managed network solution.
