Canon's multifunctional Pixma MP 520 offers various functions like high quality photo printing, high resolution scanning and photocopying in one easy-to-use package.

The MP 520 has a print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi max, while the onboard flatbed scanner has a resolution of 2400 x 4800 dpi. The printer uses individual ink tanks and therefore keeps the overall cost per print low. You only need to replace the color that runs out rather than the entire cartridge. This MFD gave excellent prints and in a reasonably short amount of time. It printed a borderless A4 size photo in less than 2 min, while it took 48 seconds for a normal color print. Monochrome printing was speedy, taking just 18 seconds to print an A4 sized document. The scores for scanning were good too, standing at 15 secs for monochrome and 34 secs for color scanning at 300 dpi. The control panel sits under a flap which houses a 2-inch color LCD. You can also print using PictBridge and a compatible camera, or directly from a memory card. Overall, excellent performance & features for the price.
