To help Indian companies transform the way people work together to deliver software

BANGALORE, INDIA: Global IT services provider IBM today announced the launch of new software, which it claimed would transform the aspect people's collaboration, thereby driving greater value and performance to the globally distributed software investments.

During the IBM Rational Software Development Conference, in which more than 5000 customers, business partners and developers attended, the IT major announced that it would launch 20 products by the end of 2008, that break down the walls that inhibit organizations from truly collaborating.

A press release stated that these new offerings would use IBM's Jazz collaborative technology to distribute the work among the teams in an open, real-time and transparent manner to effectively deliver source and software solutions.

The biggest challenge Indian companies face is the impact of globalization, which is forcing them to become more nimble. In the world of software delivery, this means around the clock collaboration with specialized teams around the globe to pick up where another left off, said the press release.

Technologies built on, or using, Jazz can interoperate with software from other vendors allowing customers to significantly improve their ability to communicate data within and between their enterprises.

"Currently, organizational, geographical and technical silos inhibit business agility and return on software investments. In a globally integrated enterprise, organizations need to transform how they collaborate to get the job done," said Steve Robinson, vice president, worldwide sales, Rational Software, IBM.

"IBM's Jazz platform breaks down location, infrastructure and organizational barriers, transforming the practice of global software delivery," he added.

The Jazz-enabled products are expected to reach the markets by end of 2008.
