McAfee enhances 2010 consumer products

MUMBAI, INDIA: Technology security firm McAfee Inc., today unveiled major enhancements to its 2010 consumer product line, claiming to deliver “fastest, lightest and most effective” consumer PC protection in the company’s history.

Among the enhancements in the consumer products, McAfee has added the threat protection that includes web protection to alert and block consumers from dangerous downloads and web pages before its access.

McAfee 2010 consumer product line includes Total Protection software, Internet Security software and AntiVirus Plus Software. The company has enhanced performance features, offering over 325 per cent faster scans with initiation of updates only when PC is idle. Also it has simplified the user interface and made it much easy for users.

“Every feature of this release is best of breed. The new enhancements for this 2010 Q1 release offers consumers what they want- strong and unobtrusive protection with market leading performance,” said Javed Hasan, McAfee Consumer Product Group’s vice president of product management.

“With McAfee, consumers are protected by the same intelligence and technology used to defend governments and Fortune 500 companies around the world,” added Hasan.

According to Krishnapur Venkatasubrahmanyam, McAfee Software’s senior director of engineering for consumer, the 2010 consumer product line had undergone major changes from the earlier 2009 consumer products in terms the codes and modules.

“The three key elements for these 2010 products are rock solid security, high performance and easy to use for the consumers,” said Venkatasubrahmanyam. He informed the testing of the products was largely done in India at McAfee India Center in Bangalore.

McAfee Total Protection software is a comprehensive security suite that offers full protection to PCs, online activities, personal files and home networks. Also, it has SiteAdvisor Plus, a powerful website safety advisor, 2GB of online backup and McAfee Anti-Theft File Protection software to secure valuable files. Its 3-user license software priced at Rs..3199.

McAfee Internet Security software priced at Rs..2499 for 3-users comes with full PC and identity protection against online threats and risky websites. It offers 1GB of online backup and Site Advisor.

Meanwhile, McAfee AntiVirus Plus priced at Rs..2199 for 3-users offers essential PC security and consumer’s online safety against viruses, spyware and hackers.

All the three products has some common security features such as antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-phishing, two-way firewall, SiteAdvisor and parent controls.
