I think the arpu levels are not very likely to shooy up in the days to come, since there is a cut throat competition in the tariff domain and the markets will evolve in the data segment. But the consumers have already tasted the low cost plans and is used to it by the time 3G is finally in the market. Its very difficult for him to switch back very easily, although the data speeds may catch an eye, but then its very difficult to understand how many can go for it.the High ARPU customers may in the first phase of the launch but it will be mainly the voice high cost which will pinch the pockets.

But the last line in the story which is been highlighted in bold was unnecessary. The real challenge faced by telco service provider and OEMs are how to lure more customers into the 3G loop. The services 3G will offer are more on data side, the data consumption is only limited in the Tier one and two cities, and that will be much tech savvy users. Other point I would like to bring in here is that yes users will try 3G but the the subscription fee that had to pay for data will make them go back to 2G, service providers must adopt new ways to capitalise on these issues.
