NEW DELHI, INDIA: Cellphone maker HTC said it is getting ready to come up with 4G devices, but it is waiting a nod from the operators for the go ahead in Indian market.
“We are ready with 4G enabled devices. Once the operators will give us green signal, I promise you we will be the first company to launch 4G devices,” said Jack Tong, vice president, APAC, HTC at the launch of HTC Smart – a smartphone, in exclusive partnership with Bharti Airtel here on Tuesday.
HTC Corporation last week launched HTC EVO 4G handsets in the US market in an exclusive agreement with Sprint.
This smartphone that the company launched on Tuesday in India is exclusively for Bharti Airtel in India and will be priced at Rs. 9990. This phone was unveiled by HTC at the Consumer Electronics Show at Las Vegas recently and the first shipment of this phone will be under the business agreement between Airtel and HTC.
As part of the agreement with Airtel, HTC Smart users will get free and discounted packages from the service provider on this smartphone. It will hit market on this April 12 in select 30 top cities across country.
