NEW DELHI, INDIA: Global Holding Corporation , promoter of GTL Infrastructure and GTL Limited, is ready to extend partnership with all BWA spectrum holder including Augere (Mauritus) for its business in India.
“We are ready to partner with Augere and with other BWA partners as well but the kind of partnership that we will go for will depend on negotiations,” said Manoj Tirodkar, chairman, GHC in a brief interaction with CIOL while announcing its deal with Qualcomm and Tulip Telecom.
Augere (Mauritus), which is a foreign company, has won BWA spectrum for Rs. 124.66 crore in Madhya Pradesh circle. Augere will have to find a local partner for starting business in the country.
Augere was established in September 2007 and is headed by Sanjiv Ahuja. France Telecom, New Silk Route and Vedanta are main investors in the company. Augere currently has access to spectrum in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Uganda and Rwanda. Augere offers started offering service in Pakistan in July 2009 under brand name of Qubee.
GHC , Qualcomm and Tulip Telecom have today announced joint venture to set up a company for offering LTE service in India.
GHC has been making spree of investments in Indian market. In this year alone its subsidiary, GTL Infrastructure purchased telecom tower business worth Rs. 58,400 crore. GTL acquired 17500 telecom tower of Aircel for Rs. 8,400 crore. Telecom industry saw another big investment coming from company in June when it purchased telecom tower business of Reliance Infratel for Rs. 50,000 crore.
GHC’s subsidiary, GTL Infrastructure is now the biggest telecom tower company in the country.
