Goyal also mentioned that BSNL will be distributing free coupons for Chennai Rajdhani passengers who can use it to get BSNL 3G SIM free of cost.
Talking about the capacity of 3G customers on BSNL network, Goyal mentioned that the company’s network is capable of supporting 3.75 million more 3G customers at current capacity.
“We have 1.25 million customers at present. Total capacity of BSNL for 3G customers is 5 million lines at the moment. Therefore we can easily accommodate 3.75 million more 3G customers in the present capacity,” said Goyal.
After paying Rs. 10,186.58 crore for the 3G spectrum, the company has started aggressively attracting customers for its 3G service. Last Thursday, BSNL announced to provide free data card to its customers along with pre-paid and post-paid connections on low tariffs for 3G and 2G services.
As per the new announcement, any customer by subscribing for monthly 2 GB plan for 15 months, 10 GB plan for 10 months and unlimited plan for four months can get one 3G data card free from BSNL.
The state telco also launched a plan of Rs..999 per month for 3G data service with a usage cap of 10 GB.
BSNL is also offering 3G voice plan which will allow users to use free 100 minutes of video calling, 200 MB data and 2,000 free SMS within 30 days of activation of every 3G pre-paid SIM. The video call rate has been reduced to 30 paise a minute for 90 days on a promotional basis.
