BANGALORE, INDIA: Who will win the world cup? This is the question that the world has been asking since some time. A tournament that saw many big trees fall, this year's FIFA World Cup will be remembered for the unceremonious exit of the giants in football that failed all predictions and expectation.
However, it is a prediction by 'Psychic' octopus Paul that has sensationalized the real world as well as the virtual one.
The octopus that is said to have some psychic powers has predicted Spain would win the World Cup against the Netherlands on Sunday. Not only that, Paul also predicted Germany would take the third place.
And the Octopus prediction is spreading like wildfire in the social media. On Twitter, Paul the octopus, the most valuable football forecaster, is currently among the top 10 trends.
The octopus that claims the world is his ocean, has a Twitter account with over 480 followers. He has also got a Facebook fan page, which has beaten porn star Bobbi Eden and Paraguayan lingerie model Larissa Riquelme.
According to Wikipedia page, the octopus from the Sea Life Aquarium in the western German city of Oberhausen was also used during UEFA Euro 2008 to correctly predict the outcome of 80 per cent of Germany's matches, but failed to predict their defeat to Spain in the final.
If Paul became a star for the predictions, many of which proved true in this year's world cup, Bobbi Eden created a storm with a tweet that made a 'bizarre promise' to her followers on Twitter.
“If the Netherlands win the 2010 FIFA World Cup, I will give a ** to all my followers, together with vickyvette @ @ @ misshybrid and gabbyquinteros,” she tweeted.
And with the 'hot' promise, Eden's followers multiplied like anything - from 4804 to over 87000 in a matter of hours! On an average 200 followers are being added in 10 minutes! That's the way of the world. People are crazy about promises. If the predictions of Paul the octopus become true, many of Bobbi Eden's Twitter followers will be saddened!
So, whom do you want to win, Spain or the Netherlands? It all depends on your taste, and the sportsman spirit!
