BANGALORE, INDIA: Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited, today announced that it has been recognized as a winner of the 2008 Indian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises, MAKE, Award.
The company said it was ranked third in the Information Technology sector in ‘transforming enterprise knowledge into shareholder value’. This is the fourth time that Wipro Technologies has been recognized as an Indian MAKE winner, said a pres release.
The formal announcement was made at Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII) KM India Summit, 2008 where Wipro was recognized under various categories.
"Indian companies, especially the ones in the IT solutions sector, are transforming themselves into world-class knowledge-driven organizations,” Said Rory Chase, managing director of Teleos. “Wipro Technologies has been recognized by the 2008 Indian Most Admired Knowledge Enterprises (MAKE) panel of experts for its outstanding integrated approach to managing enterprise-wide collaboration and knowledge sharing,” he added.
“We are very pleased that Wipro has been recognized yet again as a winner of the Indian MAKE award,” said Ved Prakash, general manager and head of knowledge management at Wipro Technologies.
With the Indian industry coming of age and continuing to grow at a rapid pace across all sectors, knowledge management is centric to the company’s ability to continuously deliver cutting-edge solutions to the customers, he said.
“The global IT business of Wipro today needs to leverage on expertise across the organization like never before. MAKE Award is an affirmation that our knowledge strategy is on the right track,” he added.
Started in 1998, the annual MAKE survey is now the leading benchmark for the world’s best knowledge-based organizations. Each year, the survey identifies organizations that stand above the crowd in the knowledge economy.
Wipro Technologies has recently been recognized as a winner of the Asian MAKE Awards, 2008 and finished third overall.
