BANGALORE, INDIA: NASSCOM President Som Mittal said that the market in India is recovering and we are not going back to old days. While addressing NASSCOM's Diversity and Inclusivity Summit, 2009 here today, the NASSCOM President said that a lot of new trends can be seen in the industry that have moved on, like outcome-based pricing, result-based pricing etc. While India expects around 4 per cent CAGR this year, Mittal said, in the coming decade it will be 14 per cent CAGR.
NASSCOM also announced the winners of Gender Inclusivity Awards for this year. These awards, in the third year now, honour companies in the IT-BPO industry which have implemented outstanding practices that promote gender empowerment and women leadership development. Speaking on the occasion, Som Mittal said the Indian IT-BPO industry has set high standards in inclusivity and is among the first to recognize the business imperative for Diversity and Inclusion. “Recognizing the global leverage of our “demographic dividend” and that women are a vital part of our workforce, the industry is working towards developing a diverse and inclusive workforce for the world,” he said. “These awards recognize companies who are doing outstanding work enabling inclusivity and NASSCOM congratulates the winners on behalf of the industry and thanks them for their admirable effort towards promoting gender empowerment,” added Mittal. Meanwhile, interacting with CIOL on the sidelines of the event, Sudhir Mattoo, IBM's delivery head, recruitment, HR Integrated Services team, said that IBM would hire 1500 people this year, and 90 per cent of these will be lateral hiring.
