BANGALORE, INDIA: Twitter, the micro blogging site that revolutionized the concept of blogging, is also hit with phishing attack, say reports.
Twitter said its users are receiving direct messages saying, "hey! check out this funny blog about you…" along with a link to blogspot.com.
However, the links leads not to any funny blog but a phishing site (twitter.access-logins.com) that looks exactly like Twitter.
Twitter said this is a ploy to get the user name and password. There is no funny blog about you.
"If you receive an email notice saying you've received a Direct Message with a link that redirects to what seems like Twitter.com, be careful about entering your Twitter credentials," it warned. It also asked the users not to log in from direct mails.
Twitter said after getting your password it could be possible for the phisher to send out direct messages on your behalf which could trick your followers. They may be asked to do something rash, like revealing their personal credit information.
How do you think such cyber crimes can be prevented?
