Theme unveiled for CII Connect 2008

An event to showcase and promote entrepreneurship…

CHENNAI, INDIA: With a penchant to promote, award and celebrate entrepreneurship, CII (Confederation of Indian ndustry) would be organizing CONNECT 2008 with the theme--“Global Competitiveness and Equitable growth--Driven by Innovation”.

While speaking to CyberMedia News, Gopal Srinivasan, immediate past chairman, CII Tamil Nadu State Council and Convenor for CII Connect 2008 Entrepreneurs Award said, “Tamil Nadu has tremendous energy force in the form of entrepreneurs and we want to celebrate entrepreneurial drive and award them.”

He pointed out that the intent was to bring in more people into the ecosystem and the three-day event to be held from September 11 to 13, 2008 in Chennai would be a step towards the same.

“We have sessions on emerging markets, culture of innovation, how to build a capacity for growth and Tamil Nadu at 75,” averred Srinivasan.

While speaking on the event in general and the looming economic slowdown, he maintained, “Economic slowdown has always been a part of every economic cycle and we are no different.

The question under such a scenario would be as to how every company is maintaining the growth story despite looming pressures of slowdown.”

Would the Indian success story continue?

“Certainly,” says Srinivasan adding that an important facet to be considered in such a case is the amount of growth in the telecom sector, bludgeoning automotive industry and a platform for educational excellence.

Sharing his thoughts on the CII Connect 2008 Entrepreneurs Award, he said-“Connect has always been the forum for the Indian ICT industry to confer on latest trends and technology.

The event in the past has seen industry leaders and policy makers come together, exchange insights and views on accelerating growth and sustainability of the Indian ICT sector.”

India @ 75!

One of the highlights of Connect 2008 is a valedictory session that would talk about the vision for Tamil Nadu under the session of India @ 75.

Other important announcements include the unveiling of Chennai Aero Park, Virtual Launch of ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu in addition to the distribution of export performance award 2008 and distribution of TN’s E-Governance Award 2008.
