Reliance Mobile users to get news feed from BBC

Offers 24-hour access to news service to the Reliance Mobile users across the country

MUMBAI, INDIA: Reliance Communications today announced that it has entered into strategic alliance with BBC World News for mobile content.

RCom has brought out the BBC World News in India through the mobile streaming (unicast) service to the Reliance Mobile users across the country. Through this agreement, Reliance Mobile users can access BBC's trademark, live breaking news and landmark-programming initiatives as they happen directly on their handsets, said a press release.

It stated that RCom is the first telecom operator (CDMA) to provide mobile streaming (unicast) service in India that started of in 2004. It also offers a 24-hour access to news service.

'Mobile TV' on Reliance Mobile World is very popular service and represents a different genre of content such as TV news and shows, music, cricket, sports, fashion and glamour.

The 'Mobile TV' menu offers unique experience in viewing BBC World News' popular content including the Network's latest programming.

Krishna Durbha, head - VAS Business and Marketing, Reliance Communications, said, "Today lakh of mobile phones on Reliance Communication network are unicast streaming enabled. Through these phones, Reliance Mobile customers can watch more than eleven TV channels 24 x 7. "

He added that they association with BBC World News would enable them to provide up-to-the-minute international news coverage to our subscribers.

It has been our endeavour that the highest number of mobile users in India can have access to the in-depth, credible and up-to-the minute news coverage that the BBC is synonymous with.
