Over 8 lakh aspirants for Infy jobs in 2007-08

The company has also increased the dividend payout ratio to 30 per cent from 20 per cent

BANGALORE, INDIA: In the year 2007-08, Infosys Technologies had received 8,85,000 job applications, out of which the company has made 46,000 job offers, said T V Mohandas Pai, Member of the Borad, Infosys Technologies. Speaking to CyberMedia News, Pai informed that some of the job offers were for the last year (2007-08) and some for the current fiscal.

"We continue to hire from the best universities the world over and train them in our global education centre at Mysore in Karnataka. The first batch of graduates from Britain were hired in the last fiscal," Pai informed.

Addressing the shareholders during the 27th Annual General Meeting of Infosys Technologies held today at Bangalore, Pai said that the education centre at Mysore, would be one of the world's largest private facility where 13,000 graduates can be trained at a time, with about 500 faculty rooms and 10,300 residential rooms.

Addressing the shareholders, S D Shibulal, Chief Operating Officer and Director, Infosys Technologies said that 60 per cent of Infosys development centers are in the Tier-II and Tier III cities of India and made over 30,000 direct employments in these cities.

For fiscal 2008, Infosys has rewarded its shareholders with a special dividend of Rs..20 per share (400 percent on Rs. 5 per share) for crossing $1 billion in net profits for the first time under the US accounting practice. The company has also increased the dividend payout ratio to 30 percent from 20 percent.
