The man in the moon came tumbling down And asked his way to Norwich; He went by the south and burnt his mouth With supping cold pease porridge
BANGALORE, INDIA: Remember the nursery rhyme that took you to the mystic landscapes of moon? Even you had wished to experience the feeling of getting into space and landing on moon, that too without paying a single penny. And there days when you dreamed of becoming an astronaut to explore the lunar mysteries? And finally, it's time to fulfill your wish online, in the world of virtual reality. John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, in order to mark the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing, has launched wechoosethemoon.org, an interactive website which would feature a virtual reenactment of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon and back. According to the JFK Presidential Library and Museum website, the www.WeChooseTheMoon.org would go live on Thursday July 16, 2009 and would provide minute by minute details of the Apollo 11’s lunar mission, with an interactive experience using archival audio, video, photos and “real-time” transmissions. The re-creation of this moon mission is also incorporated over the popular micor-blogging site Twitter. Twitter feeds on the preparations for the moon landing as well as announcements that were made before the take off, are already up on the site. For example, one of the tweets posted on June 11 says, “Neil, Buzz and Mike are ready to go the Moon” and the latest tweet says, “Preparation for first lunar landing still on schedule”. Forty years after man conquered moon, the virtual world, with the help of technology, is all set to recreate history for the generation that has forgotten the folktale of the fox barking at the moon.
