Microsoft helps Raymond reduce cost

Says MS Exchange Server 2007 increase efficiency by 80 per cent

BANGALORE, INDIA: Clothing and apparel manufacturer Raymond Group today announced that it has reduced costs by 30 per cent and improved operational efficiency by 80 per cent with Microsoft messaging and collaboration solution, Exchange Server 2007.

The company has migrated to the Microsoft platform, from its earlier Linux based solution, to cater to its need for a scalable, intuitive and cost-effective solution said a press release.

With this, the company is now able to effectively serve remote location needs across 40+ cities and towns in Indian the release further added.

“As the company grew, we found we needed a more advanced, integrated communications which can provide a faster message delivery and roaming user support, which our earlier Linux based system could not deliver. Therefore, we decided to adopt core Microsoft technologies and products for our infrastructure, messaging and collaboration services.” said Vinay Hinge, GM-IT - Raymond.

The implementation of Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 has resulted in an important reduction of management, administration, and maintenance costs for the e-mail environment, which helps reduce overall costs and delivers high return on investment for the Company said the release.

Further, the new messaging solution has provided an opportunity to achieve greater control over the security and integrity of the organizations information.

“The security features of Exchange Server 2007 are much better than those in our earlier environment, and also gives our IT administrator better, more flexible management capabilities,” he added.

In addition to Exchange Messaging, Raymond also implemented Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 for 800-1000 desktops for inventory management, patch management of Microsoft operating systems and generation of standard reports said the release.

Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2005 and Office Communication Server (LCS) 2007 were also implemented to ensure collaboration and integration with the Office 2007 suite of products towards productive usage of Microsoft technology.

By completing this project, Raymond has an operating environment that addresses its current needs and allows future scalability. The new platform will be a key enabler for delivering value to the Raymond business the release added.
