M. N. Vidyashankar, new Principal Secretary, eGovernance

BANGALORE, INDIA: Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, M. N. Vidyashankar, will take over as Principal Secretary, eGovernance.

He is likely to take charge on Wednesday. Vidyashasnkar, earlier held the post of Principal Secretary for Information Technology, Biotechnology, and Science and Technology.

According to sources, Vidyashankar would also be entrusted with the responsibility to manage the UID Authority of India project, which is being headed by former co-chairman of Infosys Nandan Nilekani.

He has been instrumental in implementing various IT initiatives in the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewage Board (BWSSB) and Bangalore Development Authority (BDA).
