IBM signs $5 mn IT services deal with Kotak

The deal to help Kotak Mahindra Bank to save US$1.2 Million over next five years in operational efficiency

BANGALORE, INDIA: Leading computer technology and consulting corporation, IBM today announced that it has signed a US$5 million IT services agreement with Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited, a banking and financial services provider in India.

As per the deal, IBM will design, build and maintain a highly scalable, energy-efficient green data center as well as the converged IP network infrastructure for the client, said a press release.

The solution being implemented by IBM will also help Kotak save over US$1.2 million in operational efficiency and reduced energy costs over the next five years.

This implementation will help Kotak move towards a shared technology infrastructure services model across all its businesses, the release added. Kotak Mahindra Bank and all the group companies, including Kotak Securities and Kotak Life Insurance, will benefit from this consolidated data center and network infrastructure.

Commenting on the relationship with Kotak, Nipun Mehrotra, vice president and general manager, Global Technology Services, IBM India/S Asia said, “IBM is committed to helping clients bring greater efficiency in their operations by deploying solutions that can highly optimize their IT and hence reduce costs.”

He added that IBM has a unique value proposition to offer to clients in these difficult times.

The solution designed by IBM offers 100 per cent concurrent maintainability in its power and cooling design and an optimal uninterruptible power supply (UPS) configuration for energy efficiency.

IBM will also be deploying a new-generation switching technology and IP convergence solution for over 3,000 users, according to the release.
