NEW DELHI, INDIA: HCL Infosystems, India’s hardware, services and ICT system integration company today announced that Sangli Miraj Kupwad Municipal Corporation (SMKMC) has awarded it with a contract to commission, implement and maintain e-governance in the Corporation.
HCL will provide the required technical infrastructure including all hardware, software and requisite technical skill set along with non-technical manpower. The existing employees will also get training to use the new system, said a pres release.
Speaking on the occasion, JV Ramamurthy, president and COO, HCL Infosystems Ltd said, “We are extremely happy to be a part of this e-governance movement in the state. The computerization of systems will ensure authenticity of transactions, safeguarding the citizen's interests. This network would facilitate better access to civic facilities and will make processes much faster.”
Under the scope, HCL will computerize all the 32 departments of the Corporation and will make them online. In the first phase, important departments of the Corporation like birth and death, water supply, tax dept and property dept will be computerized.
The citizens will get all the applications free of cost over Internet and facilities like payments through online, debit card, credit card will be enabled and the receipt of tax paid would be available online of providing all applications, duplicates, certificates, part maps, index, etc.
HCL will be responsible for the implementation and administration of the project including computer trainings to the Corporation employees. In addition, HCL will also install online payment facility. As part of the project and state government’s guidance, biometric thumb impression system for corporation employees will also commence.
In order to provide a new dimension to the citizen services, the new solution will also ensure that daily balance sheet is available to office immediately and that the senior officers are informed effectively about the pending complaints by the citizens, the release.
