ECI tops V&D vendor survey for third time

BANGALORE, INDIA: Networking infrastructure solutions provider ECI Telecom was today announced as the top transmission equipment vendor in India for the third consecutive year by Voice and Data (V&D), the leading telecom magazine, published by CyberMedia.

According to the survey, the Indian telecommunications industry grew by 24 per cent from Rs 76,973 crore ($18 billion) in FY 2006-07 to Rs 95,407 crore ($22.3 billion) in FY 2007-08.

The transmission equipment market increased by 53 per cent to record Rs 1,931 crore ($452 million) in revenue, propelled primarily from the network infrastructure expansions required to support increased cellular voice traffic.

"We are very proud to be recognized as the leading transmission equipment vendor in India for the third consecutive year. This acknowledgement is once again a testament of our ongoing leadership and expertise in this important growth market," said, Kiran Pande, president, ECI Telecom.

"Our ongoing commitment to offer innovative and efficient solutions to our customers, as defined by our 1Net framework, has allowed us to become the 'partner of choice' to India's key telecommunication operators, supporting them in their efforts to deliver the country's next generation of services," he added.

India also experienced high growth in the broadband access market, with 68 per cent year-over-year growth, he pointed out.

The company maintained its leadership with 30 market share, significantly ahead of other market competitors, it said in a press release.
