Deloitte launches Center for Corporate Governance

BANGALORE, INDIA: Deloitte, an IT services provider, today announced the launch of the “Center for Corporate Governance”.

The Center for Corporate Governance is a platform designed with the aim to promote a dialogue in the critical areas of corporate governance among industry bodies, companies, their boards of directors and senior management amongst others, said a press release.

The center is aimed to be a resource that would offer a large and diverse collection of governance tools, resources and thought leadership of interest to the board, audit committee members, and others.

The center is designed as an online resource that provides timely and relevant thought-ware as well as other information, including a list of Deloitte webcasts, podcasts and events focused on governance issues.

Abhay Gupte, senior director, Deloitte expressed, “Corporate Governance has gained momentum amongst Indian companies and is soon becoming an imperative tool responsible for an organization’s sustainable growth and success.

He added that with continued focus on corporate risk, integrity in financial reporting and regulatory compliance requirements, it is more important than ever for organizations to maintain good governance practices.

Gupta added, “The center for corporate governance will act as a one point gateway for audit committees, boards and other governance professionals seeking tools and information on the latest trends, regulations, and leading practices around corporate governance”.

The launch was followed by a panel discussion on the topic – “Board Effectiveness: An Independent Director’s View”.

The panel comprised experts from the industry, who shared their perspectives on the topic and brought to fore insights on whether there is a need for major regulatory changes to improve corporate governance and if improved standards of corporate governance should be achieved through the adoption of principle based standards of conduct, the release added.
