WASHINGTON: Shortly after Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president of the United State, the White House's official Web site, underwent a change, indicating that the new administration would utilize the possibility of the Internet to reach out to the people and connect itself with the people of the country.
"Change has come to WhiteHouse.gov," said Macon Phillips, Director of New Media for the White House in the inaugural post on the website.
"A short time ago, Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the United States and his new administration officially came to life. One of the first changes is the White House's new website, which will serve as a place for the President and his administration to connect with the rest of the nation and the world," he added. Phillips said.
The Obama administration said new media priorities will be communication with citizens through the blog and e-mail updates, as well a pledge to have WhiteHouse.gov play a “major role” in Obama’s pledge to make government more transparent.
The Internet had played a key role in Obama's electoral campaign too. And now the question is as to how he is going to use Net for a better administration. What is your reflection?
