Beware of fraudsters Wipro warns job-seekers

BANGALORE, INDIA: Indian IT major Wipro Technologies made it clear on Thursday that the recruitment mailers coming in the name of Wipro are fake.

Responding to the media reports that fraudulent recruitment mailers, through a job portal, are trying to take advantage of people’s desperation for jobs, Pradeep Bahirwani, vice president – Talent Acquisition, Wipro, said that Wipro has neither in the past nor now has sought any money from candidates before selection.

“Also candidates are not selected without the completing the requisite interview processes,” he said in a statement.

The fraudsters, who said the IT job aspirants that Wipro has 45 job vacancies in its facilities in Delhi, Bangalore, Noida and Pune, had also reportedly asked them to make a refundable deposit of Rs. 5,850 in a certain bank account, according to a media report.

The mail had asked for resumes to be sent not to an official email ID but to one on Gmail.

"Wipro advertises job openings only on its career website, in registered job portals, registered staffing partners and through advertisements in media carrying the Wipro logo and Wipro email ID,” Bahirwani added.
