Airtel picks Acision for its MMSC service

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Bharti Airtel, a provider of telecom services, today announced that it has selected Acision to provide a fully managed service for its Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) infrastructure.

As the first managed service of its kind in the market, Acision has replaced Bharti Airtel’s existing MMS provider to drive adoption across its subscriber base, as well as improve the MMS experience for customers, said a press release.

With 100 million plus mobile subscribers, Bharti Airtel required a flexible MMSC system to achieve its objective to make MMS more popular.

Acision would be able to offer Bharti an innovative approach to messaging and the ability to support increasing MMS traffic across Bharti Airtel’s large customer base.

It would enable Bharti Airtel to provide a superior Internet experience, charge for messaging and data use, analyze usage behavior, control spam and malicious messages, and format MMS images for any MMS device.

Rory Buckley, chief executive of Acision, added, “Acision has made significant investments in the Asian region, opening new offices and hiring experienced staff to drive growth. Bharti Airtel would undoubtedly benefit from our ongoing commitment to this region which has enabled them to provide the dedicated support required for this type of managed service.”

Acision would enable Bharti Airtel to take full advantage of the potential of the second largest penetrated mobile data channel – MMS.

The MMS deployment positions Bharti Airtel to market innovative MMS and proactively respond to a surge in demand for rich multimedia messages, including video and audio files, the release added.
