NEW DELHI, INDIA: India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday sought the Attorney General's advice on whether the government could file a review petition in the apex court on the recent cancellation of 122 telecom licences.
Singh has asked the AG to review the SC judgement and come up with a comprehensive legal opinion within a week. The government is already in no mood to continue the controversial first-come-first-served policy.
The AG's view would be crucial in the matter that could decide whether the government should go ahead with the review petition in the Supreme Court.
The corporate sector in India, especially the new entrants in telecom, seems worried while the foreign investors and bankers are equally concerned over the licence revoke.
