CDC foresees growth through Health sector

Indian health care sector is estimated to cross US $78.6 billion by 2016

The growth of health care sector, even during tough economic times, is making the industry look out for opportunities.Alan MacLamroc, global chief product and technology officer, CDC Software, talks to V.Sudhakshina of CyberMedia News about the company's expansion plans and the opportunity it is seeing from the health care industry in India.

What are your expansion plans in India?

APAC market is witnessing growth very substantially, India and China are two markets where we are into. The Indian market plays a major role for us and we have got one of our biggest offices in APAC at Bangalore. Already we have got two offices in India - a center of development in Bangalore and sales office in Mumbai.

Coming to our latest product, Pivotal CRM 6.0, its 80 per cent of R&D was done from here. Currently we are about 400 people in India, out of which 320 are in Bangalore. By this April, we are planning to expand our product support and services capability, sales center here.

We are also planning to add the capacity of workforce according to our need and availability of talent.

You are planing to expand in a time of recession. How are you planning to cope with that aspect?

Yes, globally recession is playing a major havoc. But comparatively India is not very much affected.

There are still lots of good opportunity for us in India. Take example of the India health care sector, which currently is a US$38.5 billion industry and is estimated to grow to US$78.6 billion by 2016. The pharmaceutical vertical itself is US$40 billion in terms of revenue. We are seeing ample opportunity from that sector itself from India.

What are your projection of revenues from the health care sector?

Sorry, we are right now just in an establishing stage, and hence I cannot give out any revenue projection as of now.

What kind of solution you have for the health sector, and what are the issues they address?

Health care sector faces lots of issues like inefficient paper management for administrative processes in hospitals, decreasing administrative waste, and improving the medical outcomes etc.

Our product, Pivotal CRM, would help them address such problems and automate their paper-based processes and focus on member needs will gain market share and increase profits.

All our products are customized and localized according to the industry specific needs. Pivotal CRM for the health care is a tailor-made solution made to improve the front office needs and operation.

We also have CRM solutions for Medical Device Manufacturing, where we meet the requirements of manufacturers in sales, lead management, and manage their go-to-market strategy.

We are also planning to bring solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, as we see good growth opportunity in meeting demands like document management, digital signature, regulatory requirements, etc.
