Wipros CMO Jessie Paul steps down

BANGALORE, INDIA: Wipro's Chief Marketing Officer Jessie Paul, has put in her papers to start her own venture named Paul Writer Strategic Advisory, a B2B marketing firm.

Jessie Paul said, “The idea of starting my own venture was there for around two years. But it was after my book 'No Money Marketing' that helped me open a new horizon and identify what I wanted to do. It would be targeted at B2B companies for providing consulting regrading marketing and branding.”

Paul explained that apart from core consulting, the new venture would also look at partnerships to provide assistance in execution, events and networking. She is planning to rope an international player which has been instrumental in setting a global networking platform.

She said , “With Paul Writer Strategic Advisory, I intend to focus on three areas namely Strategic Advisory & Marketing Management, Marketing Crashers (Crash courses and collaborative learning opportunities for those who want a marketing primer on topics such as positioning, executive branding, social media), and Networking.”

She would be part of Wipro till January 8 2010, and would launch her venture around January 11.

Jessie has been part of Wipro for four and half years as chief marketing officer. She is also an active blogger. In her blog, she wrote, “Often the product of a constraint driven economy, we come up with fabulous ideas. But, as per Peter Drucker, innovation is just one face of the coin, with the other being marketing. This is where we sometimes lag - due to a combination of resource constraints, lack of marketing infrastructure, absence of common marketing knowledge. More so in B2B services/hi-tech which is a relatively new space in India.”

Sharing her key takeaways from her present role in Wipro, she said, “One of the most important thing, that I have learned from Wipro is empowerment and value. Freedom to employees to work adds pace to one's performance and for a client, value plays a big role. It is not only important that what you market but also how you do it.”

Wipro is yet to announce her successor.
