MUMBAI, INDIA: India's state-run telecom player Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) today announced 77.5 per cent dip in its the net profit for the quarter ended September 30, 2009, YoY.

MTNL posted a profit of Rs 20.6 crore as against the profit of Rs 915 crore reported in the year-ago quarter.

The net revenue also dipped from Rs 1355.3 crore in the September 2008 quarter, to Rs 1116.1 crore in the reporting quarter.

MTNL shares declined Rs 0.8, or 1.15 per cent, to settle at Rs 69.00.
