NEW DELHI, INDIA: Even as speculations are doing the round that DMK leader, Rajya Sabha MP, and above all Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi will be named in the supplementary chargesheet to be filed by CBI on Monday, the media attention on Kanimozhi was diverted due to the rumour that Suresh Kalmadi has been arrested corruption in the Commonwealth Games that were held in India in September last year.
Though some reports said on Monday that Kalmadi has been arrested, and it will be formally announced this afternoon, some other reports said that he is just being questioned.
According to a Reuters report, a CBI spokesman said Kalmadi was “not yet” arrested in connection with the Commonwealth Games corruption investigation.
"Not yet. There is probably a likelihood later today, yes," Dharini Mishra, a CBI spokeswoman told Reuters when asked if Kalmadi had been arrested.
Suresh Kalmadi, who is facing allegations related to the alleged irregularities related to the Queen's Baton Relay, has been summoned by the investigative agency for the fourth time. He skipped the questioning on three earlier occasions.
And it seems that our investigating agency is bit too slow in making arrests. Won't the delay help the accused clean all those evidences against them?
Former minister A.Raja along with a few telecom honchos are already in jail. With more arrests following, it is most likely that Delhi's Tihar jail will become the most 'politically happening place' in India.
